Silna's Story -My name is Silna. I am 7 years old. I come from a very poor tribal family in a northern-India village. I am the only child of my parents. My father worked as a farmer but would get drunk and beat my mother every day. He often sold my family’s belongings and used the money for alcohol, leaving us with hardly anything. One day my father became ill and died the next morning. My mother and I were left to provide for ourselves. Poverty crushed us and we did not have any food to eat or any clothes to wear. Our house was broken. I could no longer go to school and study like the other children. I wanted to play but there was nothing for me to play with. I was often hungry and sometimes I had to go to my neighbor to ask for a bite of food.       

The church I attended with my mother was very compassionate towards us. Our pastor heard of our desperate situation and brought me to June’s Children’s Home in the city of Asansol where I currently live. Now I have friends who are like siblings to me. We play together and I have begun going to school again. I love staying here in the Asansol Home. I feel happy again.  I pray every day to Jesus Christ for my mother. Please pray with me so that my mother and I can remain in Jesus in the days to come.

You can help children like Silna. $30.00 will cover a child’s education, food, clothes, and medical needs for a whole month.  Give them a hope to know that they have a purpose. Give them a love they only dream about. Give them a brighter future so they can be taught to reach the lost in their generation. The chances of these children’s lives being promising are slim.
